Cross border ambulance service

Cross border ambulance service is medical transport across international borders, usually when a patient needs medical care or repatriation to their home country from a foreign location.

International medical transport

Transporting patients across national boundaries for medical reasons — including medical evacuation, repatriation, or transfer between healthcare facilities in different countries.

Coordination

Cross border transfers involve complex logistics: permits, visas and clearances from both the sending and receiving countries, plus coordination with healthcare providers and authorities on both sides.

Specialised ambulances

Ambulances for cross border transport are equipped to international medical standards, carrying advanced life support (ALS) equipment, medication and medical staff able to provide comprehensive care throughout the journey.

Regulations, language and culture

Cross border transfers must comply with the regulations of each country involved. Our teams also account for language barriers and cultural differences when providing care and communicating with patients and families.

Medevac

Medevac — also written medivac — is medical evacuation: moving a patient from one location to another for medical purposes, including by air ambulance.

The purpose is to move people who are injured, critically ill, or in need of specialised treatment. That can mean transferring a patient from a remote or underserved facility, or from one country to another.

Emergency and non-emergency evacuation

Intensive care evacuations involve critically ill patients who must travel to another country for better or more immediate treatment. Non-emergency evacuations cover planned transfers — a bedbound patient, someone with limited mobility, or a patient needing oxygen support to return home for further treatment.

Medical staff

Evacuation teams include Assistant Medical Officers, Nurses or Medical Officers trained in advanced life support and critical care. The level of expertise is matched to the patient’s condition and the mode of transport.

Equipment

Medevac transports carry advanced medical equipment — cardiac monitors, ventilators, oxygen supplies and medication — to maintain the patient’s stability throughout the journey.
