What critical care transport covers

Critical care transport is the specialised movement of a critically ill or injured patient from one facility to another — typically from a referring hospital to one that can provide further treatment. These services are designed so that patients in critical condition continue to receive the highest level of medical care throughout the journey.

Specialised vehicles

Critical transport ambulances carry advanced medical equipment and technology for patients with severe conditions — advanced life support equipment, cardiac monitors, ventilators and the capability to administer specialised medication.

Highly trained personnel

The critical transport team consists of healthcare professionals including Medical Officers (MO), Registered Nurses (RN) and Assistant Medical Officers (AMO), with the skill and knowledge to provide critical care interventions during transport.

Types of critical transport

Interfacility transfer moves patients between hospitals within the same state. Interstate transfer moves patients from a hospital in one state to another.

Patient condition

Critical transport is required for patients with life-threatening conditions or who need advanced medical support in transit, including severe trauma, cardiac events and respiratory distress.

Our team

The medical staff involved in intensive care transport are highly trained. They monitor vital signs, provide critical interventions, and coordinate with both the sending and receiving hospitals so that the patient’s condition is always current.

Critical care transport combines highly trained personnel, specialised equipment and continuous monitoring to give each patient the best possible care en route to the facility providing their specialised treatment.
